P.G. James. That’s me. I was born in Sydney and presently live in my mountain chalet called Kookaburras Rest on Mount Tamborine overlooking the east coast of Australia.
From lyrics to poetry to non fiction to fiction. This has been my journey as a writer and author. This is probably why the rhythm and rhyme in any piece I compose is such an important element in my creations.
Gardening and interacting with the abundant wildlife on this property are one of my passions, for I love to create secret gardens in the same fashion I design plots for my works of fiction
Some ask why I write. My answer is simple, “I cannot but write.” Throughout many decades I have kept journals which record the mundane and the miraculous that make up my life’s journey. It is here I believe that I was inspired to explore beyond the shortness of song lyrics and poetry to the longer form of non fiction and novels. Yet, the child within has always drawn me towards writing for children, and so here I am.
I do love words, and in my books I see myself as an artist. My favourite artist being the famed impressionist Monet. Yet unlike him, I'm a painter who fails to use paints or brushes. My instruments of creation are words.
Another delight is uncovering the story behind the story. Particularly when it comes to leaders, artists, creators, authors and the like. I would prefer to read their story than to necessarily read the stories which they've imagined. I'm particularly drawn to memoirs and biographies when it comes to my personal reading. The Bible being my most favourite book with its powerful prophetic thread that leads to Jesus, his followers and the Jewish nation. From Genesis through to Revelation I am enthralled.
